My name is Richard Higgins, I presently live in Florida in the USA, my interest in photography sparked in 1961 when I received for Christmas a present Nikon’s first 35mm film SLR camera the Nikon F, and I've been working as a full-time nature photographer since 1966. In the late 1950’s and early 60’s, there wasn’t books and no magazines on photography, so I had to learn on my own. Luckily, I met a librarian at the local library that was studying fine art oil painting in college. She helped me learn many aspects of composition then introduced me to some of the world’s greatest oil painters where I selected Claude Monet, and with her help studied his style and technique.

After my military service in the Navy, I attended college at Colorado State University where I received a M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology. While attending college I offered landscape photography workshops and instruction in Rocky Mountains National Park (RMNP) and at the same time was displaying my work at several art galleries in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington State.

Over the years I’ve tried other photography genres and noticed all my interests fell within the beauty of mother nature surrounding us, so I've settled on fine art nature photography. I find my inspiration all over the world photographing landscapes with majestic mountains, waterfalls, lakes, seascapes, forests and wildlife. I believe my photographs are most successful when they reveal “Mother Nature’s subtle elegance.”

I’ve had the opportunity to travel and visit many countries and locations on my photography journey that revealed many beautiful sites our planet has to offer.
