Bio
I’m a writer/photographer whose work celebrates natural and cultural diversity, live performance, and the world around us. Beyond the images, however, my work seeks to communicate emotion, depth, and meaning. Photography (“writing with light”) at its best, conveys the beauty of our lives and reveals a world of emotion through the captured image.
My photography career began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the 1980s documenting the natural beauty and people of rural Honduras using a trusty Pentax K-1000 film camera. I eventually received training in “wet” darkroom printing techniques, advanced to more sophisticated digital equipment, and have become well-versed in the world of both print and online publishing. For the last few years, I have concentrated on the following:
• Combining my love of live music and photography, I’ve shot and reviewed live music performance, developing a portfolio that covers national touring bands, local musicians, and street performers.
• Honed my landscape and environmental photography skills while photographing the natural world throughout the United States, Latin America, and Africa.
• Sharpened cross-cultural skills while photographing international development projects, local peoples, and cultural events.
