I am a freelance writer and photographer trained in the natural sciences, especially in evolutionary biology and relevant aspects of geology. I acquired most of my photographic education at the University of Arizona while also pursuing a MS degree in Geosciences, learning much about photography's history through the extensive archives of the University of Arizona's Center for Creative Photography. (One of my photography professors was Harold Jones, the Center's founding director.) Some of my work was published in Tucson newspapers and magazines. I am currently one of the official photographers of the Washington Square Music Festival. (As for my writing, my interests range from evolutionary biology to history and speculative fiction. In high school I was fortunate to have been a prize-winning student of Frank McCourt - the author of "Angela's Ashes" - at New York City's prestigious science and mathematics-oriented Stuyvesant High School. I studied in college with Angela Carter at Brown University, where my classmates included noted American writer Rick Moody.)
