My name is Joe. I'm a self-taught amateur photographer. After I retired as a high school science teacher, where I taught marine biology and oceanography, I took up photography as a hobby. My interests range from expansive landscapes to minuscule micro photography. I am fortunate in that I live within five minutes of the Myakka River State Park in Sarasota County, Florida. It's the biggest state park in Florida, a place where wildlife abounds and the landscapes are spectacular. The park is my favorite location to hang-out and take photos, especially of birds.
