Self taught from the early 70s and subsequently developed into an Adult Education Tutor. Had my own fully equipped darkroom and studio. Now trying to catch up with digital. I am intimidated by AI unfortunately!!!

As a tutor, I needed to adopt an eclectic mix of approaches to photography; consequently, I have become a 'Jack of all trades and a master of none'.

At present I am very keen on Infra-red photography and on scanning my many 'old' negatives and transparencies.

Years ago when using film, I had to be economical with my shots; especially with 120/220 film.

My F3 had TTL metering but my Pentax 6x7 had nothing.

I bought a Minolta spot meter and used a version of the 'Zone System' to meter a shot. I took readings off the critical shadow region and the critical highlight region and counted the 'stops' in between. If it was more than 11 stops, I had to make sacrifices.

Black and white images also demanded a choice on developer and processing, quite often decided during the taking of a picture.

As an amateur, I had some success with competitions and had images published in the following magazines: SLR Camera; SLR Photography; Photo Answers; Practical Photography; Camera Weekly and 35mm Photography. I was a finalist in Practical Photography’s “Photo Girl” competition. I was also successful in the Amateur Photography Centenary Competition, my entry exhibited along with 69 others in Hamiltons Gallery, London.

Now, in my senior years it's a question of playing with digital and scanning my many, many films. I am trying to showcase a large variety of images which underline my varied interests in photography over the years.
