Born in Manhattan, New York. At 14 Jared attended Putney School where he developed an interest in theater and art. After graduating college Jared spent a season with the Boston classical repertory, and eventually joined Joe Papp’s company at the new Public Theater in Manhattan. He continued acting off-Broadway until re-locating to Hollywood becoming visible in various roles, notably the martial arts thriller 'Men of the Dragon' and the sci-series, ‘Fantastic Journey’ co-starring Roddy McDowell and Carl Franklin. Jared is best known for his role as Dusty Farlow in the mega-hit Dallas. After leaving acting he spent the next two years traveling in Africa and China, writing and photographing. In 1995 he co-founded Philadelphia’s Big Picture Alliance and spent the next 15 years as its Creative Director supervising over 2500 students and producing over 300 student films as well as many of his own that garnered awards from Cine Eagle, Intercom, and the Chicago International Film Festival. During this time Jared began studying with the painter Michael David. His time with David culminated in two shows at the Bill Lowe Gallery in Atlanta. He is represented in several other galleries in New England and the Mid-Atlantic region, and continues experimenting with printing on different mediums, aluminum, glass and copper, as well as multi-layered encaustic surfaces.
