I loved colour as a child, and one of my earliest and best memories is when I received a huge box of oil crayons. I fell in love with one of the colours, and I see the love of certain colours show in my photography too.
When I became older, I was obsessed with drawing people. At first sketches in coal and then acrylic and oil paintings. I still enjoy seeing some of my photos in black and white too.
I was also always interested in storytelling with words. I have been communicating messages in writing all my life. First when I was active in HR and then as a strategy Consultant. I love communicating strong messages and a vision never becomes clearer than when you can actually see it.
My love for visuals and words led me to film. When I was taking creative writing classes I soon found that film was a medium using both.
I wrote a management book and a novel. I found that the management book was displayed in bookstores in windows etc. due to the symbolic photograph I used on the front. A young girl from China with a Swedish traditional dress on, and with a background of builders and tall buildings in the background. My interest in clothes also play a part in my photos. What they symbolize and how they interact with their environment and create beauty.
My novel turned into a film project, and my first film eight years ago became a best seller in Swedish schools.
I started with learning scriptwriting, but soon became very interested in directing. After a while I wanted to control the quality of the photography and my ambition grew when I saw what you can do with it. The last couple of years I have become obsessed with photography and feel I am back painting portraits. I have upgraded my equipment and feel specially satisfied when the colours are perfect even without editing.
In my work I want to portray people’s personalities, expression and talents. So, I love to photograph artists and dancers. But I will also gladly photograph people with downs syndrome or handicaps or who are a bit different as they may be transsexual or otherwise express themselves. I love to portray the inner beauty and soul of people no matter what age or weight or gender they are.
But I also love nature and I like to see people interact with nature and animals. I want to see connection and resilience in my photos. But I also see connection in owning your own environment. I love the 2 chimneys in my home area, and to watch the smoke coming out, or people picnicking close to the power plant.
For me there is beauty everywhere, and I love to catch what there is as well as arranging for something of beauty. And I would love to have people put up my photos on their walls for enjoyment and inspiration and maybe some symbolic thoughts around love and life.
