I started doing photography at 17. I was an amateur skateboarder with a couple sponsors. Eventually I met a very good friend of mine who was a professional rollerblade. I'd been working at Nordstrom since I was 16 and at 18 started working at one of Seattle's largest hip hop clubs. Over the next few years I did fashion photography, lots of skateboarding and rollerblading. Portraits, and nudes. The thing that bothered people the most was that I wasnt willing to step out from behind my minolta maxim 5. Nobody wanted to wait on film. Especially in extreme sports. But it was always worth the wait.
