So said Hans Christian Anderson, the patriarch of fairytales himself, in his autobiography appropriately titled The Fairytale of My Life.
Did that give you shivers? Those tingles in your chest that seem to vibrate just below the surface? As I’m sure you know, they are nearly impossible to ignore, especially while staring at pixelated paradise on your screen. So why ignore them? Why not go out and chase them? Why not live in a fairytale of your own creation?
For me, travel was love at first flight. Like my father before me, I developed a passion for exploring those far off places I’ve always read about, and experiencing lives so very different from my own, that are lived by people not so different from me after all. Then, I capture it all on camera. In between bouts of chronic editing and whizzing from class to class at the University of South Florida, I reminisce about past excursions and obsessively plot my next adventure. And then, I blog about it.
