Dennis Cox is an award-winning travel and location photographer for magazines, books, corporate publications and advertising. He has photographed in 130 countries and territories on all seven continents and has specialized in photographing China with over 50 trips there since 1976. His photographs have appeared in an eclectic range of publications worldwide.
Dennis is the sole photographer of 15 books. In his 14th book, the award-winning “Cruising the World, From Gondolas to Megaships,” his images chronicle the incredible diversity and originality of cruise boats and ships around the globe. They range from gondolas to megaships, converted rice boats to expedition vessels, windjammers to riverboats, junks to canal barges (occasionally even in the same photo).
As a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) for 25 years, Dennis was SATW’s Travel Photographer of the Year for 1997, He was also runner-up for that honor in 1998, 1999 and 2006, as well as placing third in 1996. In 1984 his portfolio on China in the Minolta Mirror won an “Award of Excellence” from Communication Arts. He was featured in December 2017 by the website "Mírame y sé color" in their Masters of Photography series.
Dennis has been a photography workshop instructor, taught photography at a community college, and has written for several photography magazines both nationally and internationally. He designs custom travel posters marketed by FineArtAmerica.com and designs women’s fashions for ShopVIDA.com. He has taken photography groups to over 25 countries around the world since 1981 as the owner of Photo Explorer Tours.
